Chapter 18
Olivia
A buzzing sound woke me from the sweet dream of Nix over me, fucking me hard, our bodies covered in sweat as I buried my face in his beard. The first thing I felt was his hard body pressed against mine, skin warm and inviting. It made me quiver with longing, even now. I wiped away the sleep from my eyes, glanced up on the night table and saw Nix’s phone screen blinking on.
I fell back and stared at the ceiling. Then I looked down at my naked body.
The bruises I’d sustained from the kidnapping were now just light, yellow outlines. But my skin was raw and glistening from the way Nix had bit and sucked me. I had hickeys all over me, and my nipples were bright red.
I’d loved it.
Who knew I was into rough sex? All my other lovers had been sweet...romantic.
Boring.
Maybe they’d loved me, but Nix?
Nix was so ridiculously manly, so big and hard and hot, I couldn’t get enough of him. This was the way fucking was supposed to be. He made me wet, hot and horny, just thinking about him and the things he did to my body.
I looked up at him, his eyes closed, his head rested on one arm, sleeping. He looked almost angelic when he slept, despite the tattoos. I already wanted his cock in me again, wanted to lick his body up and down. Wanted him to come in me so hard he saw stars.
But I wanted more than just sex and orgasms. I wanted dinner dates. Walking along the beach, sharing an ice cream cone. Going to wine tastings together.
Only, I didn’t see Nix doing any of that.
When I invited him to see me in the ballet, Carmen, I saw the cold look in his eyes. We had nothing in common beyond this crisis I was in. He wanted me in his bed, only.
And who knew when this would come to an end? Maybe I’d never be able to go back to my normal life. Maybe I should just leave, like Nix said, run away and never come back. I had plenty of money in my bank account. It was possible.
I looked over at him. No way. Even if he didn’t want me after this shit-show, I couldn’t leave him now. I was too invested. In us. In him.
The phone buzzed again, and I nudged Nix to answer it, but he didn’t wake up. The poor baby needed his sleep, since we sure as hell didn’t get any sleep last night.
I sat up and stretched out my sore neck and back, then noticed the number on the screen. I recognized the number.
It was my father’s.
I stood and shook my head, sure I had to be hallucinating. Why would my father be calling Nix? Did he even know Nix?
A shiver prickled up my spine.
The phone stopped ringing. I knotted my hair into a bun and threw one of Nix’s t-shirts over my head and stared at the phone, willing it to light up again.
